Yet again, Ronan took a while to answer. At last, he said, "The forest hides many secrets."
"Professor, I think -- I know -- that Sn- that someone's going to try and steal the Stone. I've got to talk to Professor Dumbledore."
Ron couldn't get worked up, it was too hot.
"Yeah," said Hagrid, "but have yeh seen anythin', Ronan? Anythin' unusual?"
"It's -- all -- my -- ruddy -- fault!" he sobbed, his face in his hands. I told the evil git how ter get past Fluffy! I told him! It was the only thing he didn't know, an' I told him! Yeh could've died! All fer a dragon egg! I'll never drink again! I should be chucked out an' made ter live as a Muggle!"
"Hullo, Bane," said Hagrid. "All right?"
"I don't understand... is the Stone inside the mirror? Should I break it?"
"And there's something else..."
"Don't be stupid," said Ron.
Harry listened. A soft rustling and clinking seemed to be coming from up ahead.
"Don't tell me what I can and can't do, Potter. Now get back to bed, all of you. I've never been more ashamed of Gryffindor students."
Firenze suddenly reared on to his hind legs in anger, so that Harry had to grab his shoulders to stay on.
"Sometimes," he said, "I find it hard to follow my master's instructions -- he is a great wizard and I am weak --"
"Yes, Yes, well done, Slytherin," said Dumbledore. "However, recent events must be taken into account."
It was as though an iron fist had clenched suddenly around Harry's heart. Over the rustling of the trees, he seemed to hear once more what Hagrid had told him on the night they had met: "Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die."
"We've got to go to Dumbledore," said Harry. "Hagrid told that stranger how to get past Fluffy, and it was either Snape or Voldemort under that cloak -- it must've been easy, once he'd got Hagrid drunk. I just hope Dumbledore believes us. Firenze might back us up if Bane doesn't stop him. Where's Dumbledore's office?"。
Someone standing outside the Great Hall might well have thought some sort of explosion had taken place, so loud was the noise that erupted from the Gryffindor table. Harry, Ron, and Hermione stood up to yell and cheer as Neville, white with shock, disappeared under a pile of people hugging him. He had never won so much as a point for Gryffindor before. Harry, still cheering, nudged Ron in the ribs and pointed at Malfoy, who couldn't have looked more stunned and horrified if he'd just had the Body-Bind Curse put on him.（央视记者 徐海霞）
